Brighton’s shooting may come and go, but the Bengals’ consistent advantage on the glass is undeniable.

Last night, Brighton showed off their rebounding advantage as behind Tyrone Perry’s 20 points and 12 rebounds to cruise to a 72-40 win over TechBoston in a Boston City League battle.

The Bengals (11-4) held a 21-8 rebounding advantage at the half, before finishing with a 56-25 advantage for the game. Additionally, Brighton dominated TechBoston (11-3) on points in the paint, outscoring the Bears 44-14 inside.

While being known for 3-point shooting, Brighton struggled for most of the first half, relying on Perry and fellow big man Jared Clark to do a boatload of the work. The two delivered, combining for 22 points and 16 rebounds at the break.

“We know we are bigger than most teams in the city,” said Brighton coach Hue Coleman. “We have to be able to use that to our advantage, because there is going to be times when shots aren’t falling and we need another way to score.”
