Randolph police seeking help on shooting suspect
Randolph cops are turning to the public for help tracking down a 19-year-old Brockton man accused of shooting a man in the face and neck last week.
Romaine Sanchez is wanted in connection with a shooting last Tuesday at a Rosemont Square apartment complex and another violent assault that took place earlier in the day, Randolph police Chief William Pace said in a statement last night.
Sanchez, who is wanted on charges including armed assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm in a building and carrying a firearm without a license, should be considered “armed and dangerous,” Pace said, and “should not be approached if spotted.”
Officers responding to a report of a person shot at 2 Chestnut West found a 32-year-old man who had been shot in the face and neck at close range, Pace said. The victim was rushed by ambulance to a Hub hospital with serious injuries and is expected to recover, Pace said.
Investigators later identified Sanchez as the shooter.
Sanchez is also wanted in connection with a separate incident at the same apartment complex about 18 hours before the shooting, according to police.
Sometime between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., police say Sanchez got into a fight with a different man over a piece of stolen property. During the dispute, police say Sanchez pulled out a handgun and threatened to shoot the man with it before striking him over the head with the gun.
Investigators say Sanchez was last seen as a passenger in an older model Mitsbuishi Galant with a temporary “donut” wheel on the rear driver’s side tire.
