Man dies in car fire in Mansfield

A man died yesterday after being pulled from a burning vehicle by good Samaritans at an Interstate 95 rest stop in Mansfield, state police said.

The identity of the deceased driver was not released.

State police said in a released statement the incident occurred about 3:45 p.m. at the Mansfield rest area on the northbound side of I-95 before the Interstate 495 interchang­e.

“A single male occupant had been inside the vehicle and was pulled from the vehicle by good Samaritans,” cops said.

North Attleboro Fire Department firefighte­rs extinguish­ed the blaze. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The incident remains under investigat­ion, cops said.
