Burakovsky earns Capital gains

Right winger Andre Burakovsky and the Washington Capitals have agreed to a $6 million, two-year contract.

The team announced the deal with the restricted free agent yesterday. The 22-year-old Burakovsky had 12 goals and 23 assists in 64 games for Washington last season, his third in the NHL.

He has 38 goals and 57 assists in 196 games with the Capitals, who drafted him in the first round in 2013. . . .

The San Jose Sharks have signed freeagent forward Brandon Bollig to a oneyear contract. General manager Doug Wilson announced the deal, adding a player known for his toughness. ...

The Colorado Avalanche have added another goal-scoring option by signing former No. 1 overall pick Nail Yakupov to a one-year deal. Yakupov was the top pick by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2012 draft and was traded to the St. Louis Blues before last season.

The Carolina Hurricanes acquired Marcus Kruger from the Vegas Golden Knights, the forward’s second trade in three days.The Golden Knights picked up Carolina’s fifth-round pick in the 2018 draft.

Autos: Busch on his way

Vermont’s Thunder Road speedway says 2015 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch is coming to race in the Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 on July 13.

It will be the first time the Las Vegas native visits the quarter-mile oval in Barre.

Cycling: Cavendish crashes

Mark Cavendish has been forced out of the Tour de France after suffering a fractured shoulder blade in a serious crash caused by world champion Peter Sagan, who was disqualifi­ed from cycling’s showcase event.

Hours after yesterday’s crash in a chaotic sprint finish to Stage 4, Cavendish’s Team Dimension Data said on its Twitter feed that “Unfortunat­ely, @MarkCavend­ish has been forced to withdraw from #TDF2017.”

Golf: Poulter qualifies

Ian Poulter has made it through the final stage of qualifying to earn a spot at Royal Birkdale for this month’s British Open.

Poulter shot rounds of 68-70 at Woburn Golf Club, his home club and one of five regional final qualifying sites in Britain. Three spots were available from each site. Shiv Kapur of India, who played his college golf at Purdue, was the medalist at Woburn with a 65 in the second round.

soccer: Rosell denied bail

A Spanish judge has denied former Barcelona club president Sandro Rosell the right to bail while he awaits trial on charges of money laundering.

Judge Camren Lamela ruled yesterday against a request by his lawyers to set bail for Rosell.

She said in a statement that Rosell presents “risks of flight, the destructio­n of evidence and continued criminal acts.”

Rosell was arrested on May 25 as part of a money-laundering investigat­ion related to buying television rights for past matches of Brazil’s national team.
