Fagundez lifts Revs at home

Diego Fagundez scored two goals in the second half and the Revolution beat 10-man New York City FC, 2-1, yesterday to set a club record for wins at home in a season with their 12th at Gillette Stadium.

Fagundez opened the scoring in the 51st minute and made it 2-0 in the second minute of stoppage time with his sixth goal of the season. That second one was needed, as Khiry Shelton scored for NYC in the third minute of extra time.

NYC’s Jack Harrison was given a straight red card in the 26th minute for a late challenge on Teal Bunbury.

Golf: Perez tops Bradley in Malaysia

American Pat Perez won the PGA Tour’s CIMB Classic, claiming a 4-shot victory over compatriot Keegan Bradley at TPC Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.

Courtesy of a strong start with three birdies in the first four holes, the 41-year-old carded a 3-under 69 for 24-under 264 total to take home the $1.26 million prize purse, 500 FedEx Cup points and an automatic entry for next year’s Masters.

Former Hopkinton High star Bradley took the runner-up spot after he carded an unblemishe­d 5-under 67 to finish at 20-under 268 . ...

South Korean Jin Young Ko overcame a sluggish start to shoot a 68 to finish at 19-under 269 and clinch her first LPGA Tour victory at the KEB Hana Bank Championsh­ip in Incheon, South Korea.

Sung Hyun Park, with the chance to take over at the top of the Rolex Rankings for the first time, closed with a 68 to finish 2 shots behind Ko . ...

Colin Montgomeri­e earned his second PGA Tour Champions victory in five weeks with his 16-under 200 total being good for a 3-stroke win at the SAS Championsh­ip in Cary, N.C . . . .

Tyrrell Hatton sunk a 15-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to win the Italian Open in Monza for his second European Tour victory in two weeks, jumping up to fifth in the Race to Dubai rankings.

Misc.: Federer beats Nadal again

Roger Federer extended his winning streak over Rafael Nadal this year to four matches after beating the top-ranked Spaniard 6-4, 6-3 to win the Shanghai Masters. The Swiss legend still trails Nadal 23-15 in their overall head-to-head mark . . . .

Maria Sharapova won her first WTA title since returning from a doping ban after defeating Aryna Sabalenka 7-5, 7-6 (8) to win the Tianjin Open in Tianjin, China . . . .

Penn State climbed to No. 2 in The Associated Press College football poll, its highest spot in 18 years, behind unanimous No.1 Alabama after a wild weekend of upsets gave the Top 25 a major makeover.

The Nittany Lions, who were idle, moved up a spot to No. 2, 15 points ahead of No.3 Georgia. TCU is No.4, Wisconsin is No.5 and Big Ten rival Ohio State is sixth. Clemson dropped five spots to seventh. Miami, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State round out the top 10 . ...

Daniel Webb, a former relief pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, died in an ATV accident in Waverly, Tenn., about 70 miles west of Nashville. He was 28.
