The MIAA tournament management committee approved the return of the “modified” double-elimination format for the Super Eight, beginning with the 2018 postseason.

The double-elimination bracket, which was used in various forms from 19912003, replaces the Hockey East-style college tournament format that had been in place since 2013. The “modified” double-elimination tournament will have a single championship game, regardless of whether the winner has zero losses or one.
