GRONK BRINGS HIS STYLE A-GAME
Pats star aims for all-pro fashion status
Ain’t no party like a Gronk party. And last night, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski classed it up with an exclusive cocktail party to celebrate the opening of Salvatore Ferragamo’s new store at Copley Place.
“I don’t have that good of taste compared to (the rest of the team),” Gronkowski told the Track about his sense of style. “They’re up there. But that’s why I’m starting to build myself up.”
And the good news is, he’s well on his way to establishing serious style cred.
The soiree — which featured champagne, Old Fashioneds and crostini topped with caviar — was attended by a heap of Boston’s hottest people. Among the guests spotted amongst the fine leather goods and shoes: Bruin Tuukka Rask, social influencers Ashley and Kat Hess, socialite Ashley Bernon, gymnast Nastia Liukin and Gronk’s brother, Gordie Gronkowski.
Gronk is certainly up against some steep competition when it comes to rising in the ranks of fashion-forward Patriots players.
Tom Brady has long established himself as one of the best-dressed men in sports and, well, the planet. Meanwhile Julian Edelman has worked with Joe’s Jeans to design a capsule collection. And then there’s Danny Amendola, who signed a contract with Ford Models because he’s so darn stylish and devilishly handsome.
When it comes to who’s the most chic Pat on the roster, Gronk says there’s no contest.
“You gotta go with Tom, obviously,” he said. “But I mean, I feel like I’m catching up a little bit. I’m here with my Ferragamo suit, so I’m feeling smooth and looking fresh.”
Gronk sported a gray suit with a faint blue plaid pattern, which he had to have specially made to fit his gargantuan proportions.
“I’m 6’6” so it’s hard with my size,” he said. “I got it custom-made. It came in from L.A. and it fits really well. I like it.”
The ladies at the shindig seemed to approve, flocking to him with googly eyes as they chatted and posed for pictures.
His entourage, which includes his security guy “Goon,” all partook in the good fun and got fitted for Ferragamo suits of their own.
“They were loving it,” Gronk said. “It was a little bit easier for them because they’re a little bit smaller, unlike myself.”
