’Hawks blank Flyers

Corey Crawford made 35 saves in his first shutout of the season, and the Blackhawks stopped a three-game slide with a 3-0 win against the Philadelph­ia Flyers last night in Chicago.

Artem Anisimov and Jonathan Toews scored 20 seconds apart in the second and Crawford took over from there, helping Chicago kill off three Philadelph­ia power plays in the last half of the game. Rookie Alex DeBrincat added an empty-net goal with 1:49 left in Crawford’s 22nd career shutout.

Brian Elliott made 32 stops for Philadelph­ia, which has dropped 4-of-5 heading into tonight’s game at Central Division-leading St. Louis.

Penguins 3, Oilers 2 — Evgeni Malkin’s tiebreakin­g power-play goal in the third period lifted visiting Pittsburgh over Edmonton.

Patric Hornqvist and Conor Sheary also scored for the defending Stanley Cup champion Penguins, and Matt Murray stopped 35 shots.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Leon Draisaitl had goals for the Oilers, who have lost four of their last five games. Cam Talbot finished with 27 saves.

Maple Leafs 3, Ducks 1 — Patrick Marleau scored early in the third period and visiting Toronto beat Anaheim to end a three-game losing streak.

Devils 2, Canucks 0 — Cory Schneider made 37 saves, Jimmy Hayes and Drew Stafford scored and visiting New Jersey blanked Vancouver.

Elsewhere in the NHL — Carolina Hurricanes defen- seman Brett Pesce will miss a two-game road trip with a concussion. Coach Bill Peters announced Pesce’s condition, one day after he was struck in the head by a puck during practice . . . .

The Arizona Coyotes recalled goalie Louis Domingue and defenseman Dakota Mermis from the AHL and sent down goalie Hunter Miska and defenseman Joel Hanley.
