Scaramucci threatens to sue Tufts newspaper, student
Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci has threatened to sue the Tufts Daily and a Tufts student for defamation over an critical op-ed, the Tufts University newspaper reported last night.
Scaramucci, who had a brief, tumultuous White House tenure last summer, is a Tufts University graduate and a member of the advisory board at Tufts’ Fletcher School of International Law and Diplomacy.
The Tufts Daily reported: “On Nov. 21, the Daily received a letter from the law firm Sadis & Goldberg LLP, which was retained by former White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci. The letter demanded that the Daily retract parts of two opeds pertaining to Scaramucci’s position on The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy Board of Advisors and issue a public apology, or legal action would be pursued.
“The two op-eds, which appeared in print on Nov. 6 and 13, are still published in their original form on the Daily’s website,” the newspaper reported. Camilo Caballero’s Nov. 6 and Nov. 13 opeds campaign for Scaramucci’s removal from the advisory board and chastise the administration for failing to act on a petition.
The Scaramucci letter details a series of statements from the opeds disparaging his character, actions and associations, which the letter claims go beyond permissible opinion and falsely represented as fact.
