LOVEBIRDS PLAN FOR WEDDING
West Newbury-born wrestler-turned-actor John Cena and his fiancee, fellow wrestling star and “Dancing With the Stars” alum Nikki Bella, are ready to put their wedding planning into high gear.
“We’ve kind of started to get the ball rolling, and I think within the next month we’ll hopefully have a lot of the details tied up,” Cena told “Extra” while promoting his upcoming animated film, “Ferdinand,” which hits theaters Dec. 15.
It’s about time the two professional wrestlers, who got engaged in April at Wrestlemania 33 after five years of dating, make a dent in their wedding details. Since the start, Bella has said she’s taking her time when it comes to planning their nuptials so she can relish in the experience.
The process of planning the “very private and intimate” affair hasn’t been void of setbacks. In October, Bella said they changed the date and the location of the wedding, citing the couple’s busy schedules as the reason for such a shift. We still don’t know when or where it will be going down.
At least Bella has a few details set in stone. She purchased her dream dress — a number by Marchesa that Bella said reminded her of something Grace Kelly would wear — when she was down in New York City for Bridal Fashion Week in April.
The dress code for the wedding was the other item that was settled on the earlier side. Guests will be decked out in their black tie best because, as Bella has said, “I feel like no one ever has a good enough excuse to wear a tuxedo anymore.”
Bella has also dropped hints of what will be in the works: She wants it drenched in flowers, with a display of fireworks and a champagne tower — just like the one supermodel Kate Moss had when she married Jamie Hince in 2011 — to make it an affair to remember.
“When I saw Kate Moss’ champagne tower from her wedding, I was like, ‘OK, check, I want that,’” Bella said. “Who wouldn’t want fireworks? Are you serious? Do you understand how long I waited for this? This is, like, a massive celebration.”
And we, like, can’t wait to see how the lovebirds use the next month to pull together the rest of their matrimony.
