As Boston braces for a deep freeze, city officials are urging residents to sign up for cold-weather alerts. Here are some helpful phone numbers and links to follow during the cold snap, during which daily high temperatures are expected to stay below 20 degrees well into next week.
For emergency alerts, including coldweather alerts, residents are encouraged to sign up for Alert Boston on the city's website, www. boston.gov.
