As Boston braces for a deep freeze, city officials are urging residents to sign up for cold-weather alerts. Here are some helpful phone numbers and links to follow during the cold snap, during which daily high temperatur­es are expected to stay below 20 degrees well into next week.

For emergency alerts, including coldweathe­r alerts, residents are encouraged to sign up for Alert Boston on the city's website, www. boston.gov.
