Holiday vacation week offers plenty to do

Dec. 27-31: Cranapaloo­za, Cranmore, N.H. — Usually it’s once a week, but holiday week it’s every après. Cranapaloo­za is a slopeside après event for the entire family, with C-More the Penguin, live music, s’mores, fireworks and more.

Dec. 28: Base Lodge Sledding, Burke Mountain, Vt. — It’s long been a nighttime ski-day tradition: heading out on the slopes to sled in the moonlight. But at Burke, you don’t have to steal a cafeteria tray and sneak out. This day at 4:45 p.m. at the snowsports desk in the base lodge you can grab a rental sled and helmet and head out for sledding fun under the lights. www.burke.com

Dec. 28 — Walk in the Park Rail Jam, Wachusett: Created and run by Cole Devin, this “street style” features event promotes creativity in the park. All abilities are welcome to compete. Registrati­on is from 9-10 a.m. and the event kicks off at 11. As a bonus with the $15 registrati­on, the first 100 folks can also purchase lift tickets for just $20. Dec. 29: Kid’s Night Out, Burke Mountain, Vt. — Mom and dad get a break thanks to Burke. Kids 15 and under are welcome for dinner and a movie in the hotel from 6:30-9 p.m., freeing up their parents to have their own fun. www.burke.com

Dec. 29-30: Snowshoe Ridge Tour, Gunstock, N.H. — Enjoy an amazing night hike way up on Gunstock Mountain. Ride the Tiger Chair up and then snowshoe under moonlight along the mountain ridge. Headlamps and snowshoes are provided for a fee. Meet at the Outdoor Center at 6 p.m. www.gunstock.com

Jan. 5 Plan Ahead: Ticket Rollback Day, Cranmore, N.H. — Now an annual event, this year’s Roll Back ticket price is just $10. Ski and ride all day at Cranmore, and look for some special après fun at Zips at the base as well.
