Hutchinson leads Wolfpack to final
Sam Hutchinson scored a pair of goals and Boston Latin advanced to the final of boys hockey’s Songin Winter Classic by blanking ActonBoxboro, 3-0, yesterday. With their first win of the season, the Wolfpack improved to 1-2-0.
Michael Anthony Burman scored with 21.6 seconds left to push Ashland past Revere/Malden, 2-1, in the Deep Freeze Tournament. The Clockers (2-2-1) will face host East Boston,a 4-3 winner against O’Bryant, in today’s tourney final.
At the Kasabuski Arena Christmas Tournament, Patrick Scanlon’s hat trick and Jacob Acri (34 saves) led the way in a 6-1 win for North Reading (2-1) against Winthrop . . . . Jack Hammersley and Cooper Marengi scored six seconds apart to end the first period and Lynnfield (50-0) rolled to a 5-1 victory against Saugus . . . . Darwin Anderson led Melrose (3-20) past Triton, 4-1.
Matthew Asselin scored twice and Lowell remained unbeaten with a 4-1 victory against Holliston in the St. Joseph Prep Christmas Classic. Brendan DeMarco and Thomas Hassett added goals for the Red Raiders (3-0-1).
Goals from Kieran Stone and Connor Flint (shorthanded) and a shutout from Kyle Sampson led Newton North (2-2-1) past Haverhill, 2-0, in the Hillies Christmas Tournament.
Shane Picariello had a goal and assist and Littleton/Bromfield (1-3-1) knocked off Stoughton, 3-1, in the Bellingham Hockey Boosters Tournament.
Stevie Rizzuto and Alec Morin handled the scoring for Belmont (2-1-1) in a 2-1 victory against Pinkerton in the Tuscan Kitchen Blue Devil Classic.
Nick Fabroski netted a hat trick and an assist as East Bridgewater cruised by Cape Cod Tech/CCA, 7-1, in a nonleague game. Tim Sherman added his first two varsity goals for the Vikings (3-2-0).
Girls hockey
Olivia Cameron, Brooke Lilley and Courtney Hill each had two goals and an assist for Wakefield in a 8-4 victory against Wilmington in the Middlesex League. Hope Melanson added three assists for the Warriors (3-3-0).
