Jan. 18: Women’s Clinic, Wachusett — It’s all about the ladies on this day and every Wednesday of the season at Wachusett. You can do a one-time tryout, or book for five or 10 weeks. The clinics are created and taught by women and for women. Skiers at all levels are welcome.

Jan. 20: Ski East Race, Ragged Mountain, N.H.: — With the Olympics around the bend, it’s time to get your cowbell skills in line. What better place than cheering on young local racers who could one day be our national heroes on snow? The Ski East Race at Ragged Mountain gives you a chance to hang at the finish and cheer on great athletes. Bring your own cowbell. www.raggedmountainresort.com Jan. 20: Split and Surfest, Bolton Valley, Vt. — It’s hot, it’s cool and it’s fun: split boarding is on the docket all day long at Bolton. You can demo split boards and snowboards from many manufacturers, participate in clinics and more. There will be games, tours, food and beer, as well as an afternoon uphill/downhill race with prizes.

Jan 20: Abenaki Park Rail Jam, Attitash, N.H. — Freestylers love the parks over on the Bear Peak side of Attitash. This event lets them compete for great prizes and the rest of us cheer. Registration and lift ticket or season pass required.

Jan 22-26: NEHSA Winter Sports Clinic for Vets, Mount Sunapee, N.H. — It might just be one of the most inspirational and important events happening on snow each winter. The New England Healing Sports Association brings disabled veterans from everywhere in the nation to Mount Sunapee this week to learn to ski, ride and more. Get out on the snow and ski or ride as these heroes learn to do the same.
