Bach’s trick helps BU tie Northeaste­rn

Victoria Bach completed a hat trick with three seconds to play, scoring the tying goal in Boston University’s 3-3 draw with Northeaste­rn in a Women’s Hockey East clash last night at Matthews Arena.

Bach’s second goal gave BU a 2-0 lead at 7:06 of the second period, but the Huskies (12-10-3, 8-7-2) fought back with three unanswered goals. Kasidy Anderson, Veronika Pettey and Denisa Krizova scored for NU, the third a shorthande­d tally at 12:15 of the third.

But Bach was able to find the net in the final seconds for the Terriers (8-13-5, 4-10-4).

Boston College 6, Harvard 2 — Makenna Newkirk had a goal and two assists, Maegan Beres added three assists and the No.2 Eagles (20-2-3) crushed the Crimson (8-8-1) at Kelley Rink.

Men’s hockey

Sacred Heart 4, Bentley 2 — Matt Riggleman scored a shorthande­d goal and Brendan Hamblet added two assists, but the Falcons (7-11-5, 4-9-4 Atlantic) lost to the Pioneers (6-14-4, 4-10-4) in Watertown.

Norwich 5, Middlebury 1 — Taeron Lewis had a goal and two assists for a career-high three assists as the Cadets (11-4-1, 8-1-1 New England Hockey), ranked No. 11 in Division 3, routed the Panthers (3-11-0, 1-7-0) in Northfield, Vt.

UNE 5, Colby 1 — Chris Jones tallied two goals and Brady Fleurent had a goal and three assists as the No. 12 Nor’easters (12-3-2) crushed the Mules (7-7-0) in Waterville, Maine.

Men’s basketball

Purdue 78, Wisconsin 50 — Vincent Edwards scored 21 points and Carsen Edwards added 20, leading the No. 3 Boilermake­rs (18-2, 7-0 Big Ten) to a blowout of the Badgers (9-10, 2-4) in West Lafayette, Ind.

Kansas State 87, Oklahoma 69 — Barry Brown scored 24 points, Dean Wade added 21 and the Wildcats (13-5, 3-3 Big 12) frustrated star Trae Young all game in an upset of the fourth-ranked Sooners (143, 4-2) in Manhattan, Kan.

Cincinnati 49, Central Florida 38 — Gary Clark scored 17 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to help the No.12 Bearcats (16-2, 5-0 American) defeat the Golden Knights (12-6, 3-3) in a defensive battle in Orlando, Fla.

North Carolina 87, Clemson 79 — Graduate transfer Cameron Johnson scored a season-high 21 points to help the No. 15 Tar Heels (15-4, 4-2 ACC) hold off the No.20 Tigers (15-3, 4-2) in Chapel Hill, N.C., preserving their perfect all-time home record in the series.

South Carolina 76, Kentucky 68 — Chris Silva tied his career high with 27 points and the Gamecocks (12-6, 3-3 SEC) rallied from 14 points down in the second half to top the No. 18 Wildcats (14-4, 4-2) in Columbia, S.C.

In N.E. games: Middlebury 77, Albertus Magnus 73 — Jack Daly (22 points) made the go-ahead layup with 1:22 left in overtime and the Panthers (123), ranked No. 16 in Division 3, held off the Falcons (9-4) in Middlebury, Vt.

Wentworth 72, WNEC 71 — Jason Ganley scored 22 points and Stephen Azums (16) made the winning layup with 22 seconds remaining as the Leopards (10-5, 5-3 Commonweal­th Coast) edged the Golden Bears (68, 3-5) in Springfiel­d.

Nichols 79, Eastern Nazarene 76 — Marcos Echevarria (26 points) made 7-of-11 3-pointers, DeAnte Bruton added 22 points and the Bison (13-2, 7-1 CCC) edged the Lions (6-9, 2-6) in Quincy.

Emmanuel 73, Johnson and Wales 66 — Joe Tamburro made five 3-pointers and scored 25 points as the Saints (2-13, 1-5 Great Northeast) marched past the Wildcats (7-7, 4-2) at the Yawkey Center.

N.E. College 83, Castleton 58 — Izaiah WinstonBro­oks (16) and Ricky Leonard (14) combined for 30 points as the Pilgrims (11-4, 7-1 North Atlantic) crushed the Spartans (7-8, 4-4) in Henniker, N.H.

Lesley 99, Newbury 87 — Joey Martin and Jordan Bellitti scored 21 points each as the Lynx (8-6, 3-1 New England Collegiate) raced past the Nighthawks (2-10, 1-3) in Cambridge.
