ATTACK ON BC ATHLETE PROBED
Report: Sucker punch was ‘unprovoked’
Police have obtained surveillance video that allegedly shows a Boston College Eagles hockey player being flattened by a sucker punch to the face as he stood in line at a Domino’s Pizza in the Fenway area early Friday morning.
Kevin Lohan, 24, a 6-foot5-inch defenseman for BC, was treated at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for a jaw injury the school said has left him sidelined from play indefinitely.
BC said in a statement that Lohan was the victim of an “unprovoked assault.”
Eagles coach Jerry York’s office yesterday referred questions about Lohan to athletic department spokesman Mark Majewski. Majewski declined to comment in deference to the Boston Police Department’s ongoing investigation.
Police said Lohan, a graduate student, was in line at the Domino’s at 1260 Boylston St. with his girlfriend about 2 a.m. Friday.
Lohan’s girlfriend, who police did not identify by name, told officers six to eight individuals began pushing their way through the line “and out of nowhere one of the suspects punched her boyfriend in the face and knocked him to the ground. The group ran off in an unknown direction,” states the narrative from the incident report released yesterday by police.
Police said they are reviewing surveillance video from the area, but declined to release any footage or still images from the evidence “at this time.”
They are asking anyone with information about the suspects to contact District D-4 detectives at 617-3435619.
Lohan, a native of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., is a graduate student pursuing a master’s of science degree in sports administration.
He graduated from the University of Michigan last year and from Cold Spring Harbor High School in 2012.
Attempts to reach Lohan and family members were unsuccessful.
