DOWNING DOWN UNDER RUMORS
As if there were any lingering doubts, Luciana Barroso is finally speaking out about her and husband Matt Damon’s intentions with Australia — and that would be none.
Despite rumors from early this year, she’s assuring the public that she and the Cambridgeraised actor’s family aren’t making a move to the other hemisphere.
“We love coming to visit the country but there are no plans to live here long term,” Barroso recently told The Daily Telegraph.
As of late, she and her A-list hubby have been hunkering down in Australia — that’s the second time this year — where they’ve been hanging out with family friends Chris Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky. Their latest visit has only reignited the rumor that they were going to purchase a house in Byron Bay to escape President Trump, as initially reported by Page Six in March.
“That’s crazy!” Nancy Carlsson-Paige, Damon’s mother, told the Track when the rumor first arose. “Matt is going to Australia for a bit, then to Spain, then to Atlanta . ... He travels a lot.”
While the Damon clan might not be making a home Down Under, Barroso did make it clear that she’s a fan of the Aussie way of life.
“I love the people in Australia,” said Barroso, who was seen attending the Camilla and Marc show with Pataky as part of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Sydney.
“Everyone I have met has been so warm and welcoming. It just makes it so easy to fall in love with this country.”
