Hart, Chandler spark BC women’s lax
Seniors Kaileen Hart and Tess Chandler of Hopkinton each had five goals for No.4 Boston College as the Eagles defeated No. 12 Princeton, 16-10, yesterday in the second round of the NCAA women’s lacrosse tournament at the Newton Campus Lacrosse Field.
Dempsey Arsenault had a goal and four assists and Cara Urbank added three goals for the Eagles (20-1), who will host fifth-seeded Stony Brook (20-0) on Saturday for a trip to the national semifinals.
Lauren Daly made eight saves for BC, which jumped out to a 9-4 halftime lead and coasted to the win over the Tigers (13-6) . . . .

Hockey: U.S. tops Norway
Captain Patrick Kane scored two goals for the second straight game and added an assist to lead the United States to a 9-3 victory over Norway for its sixth straight win at the ice hockey world championship in Herning, Denmark.
The Czech Republic beat France 6-0 for its second consecutive shutout as Bruins forward David Pastrnak had two goals.
Kane scored with a slap shot from the right circle on a power play to open the scoring and added another power play goal almost from the same spot for a 2-0 lead.
Kane leads the tourney with 15 points on five goals and 10 assists.
Dylan Larkin and Cam Atkinson had a goal and a couple assists, and Charlie McAvoy of the Bruins had a goal and an assist in another high-scoring victory for the U.S.
Alec Martinez, Anders Lee, Colin White and Neal Pionk had a goal apiece.
The United States tops Group B in Herning with 16 points.
Soccer: Barcelona denied
Barcelona lost 5-4 in a wild game at Levante, ruining the champion’s bid to become the first team to finish a Spanish league season without a loss under its current format. Barcelona was playing without Lionel Messi, rested by Ernesto Valverde ahead of a demanding summer for the Argentina forward at the World Cup . ...
Juventus won a record-extending seventh straight Serie A title after its 0-0 draw against 10-man Roma was enough to secure the trophy with a match to spare. Second-place Napoli won 2-0 at Sampdoria but Juve earned the point it needed at the Stadio Olimpico to lock up the title.
Misc.: Hamilton too fast
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton won the Spanish Grand Prix by 20 seconds for his second straight Formula One victory, increasing his championship lead over Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.
Valtteri Bottas secured a 1-2 for Mercedes at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, while Max Verstappen completed the podium despite finishing the race with a broken front wing on his Red Bull. Vettel, who now trails Hamilton by 17 points in the drivers’ standings, was only fourth after a slow pit stop . . . .
Simon Yates cemented his position as overall leader of the Giro d’Italia by winning the ninth stage, but it was a bad day for British compatriot Chris Froome, who lost more than a minute in the general classification in Gran Sasso, Italy . . . .
