SWING FOR BEST DAD’S DAY GIFT!

-

How to win Father’s Day: Ditch that same whiskey you’ve given dad for the past four years and trust David Ortiz. Big Papi has your back this June as he hosts a contest with a couple of pals.

The retired Red Sox slugger has teamed up with Orioles center fielder Adam Jones and comedian Josh Wolf to treat four lucky fans and the guys who gave them life to the ultimate Father’s Day treat — all while raising money for their favorite causes. The trio is offering folks a charitable chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip for two to the 11th annual David Ortiz Celebrity Golf Classic at Casa de Campos in Dominican Republic.

To enter, people can make $20 donations, which will be split among the three hosts’ charities of choice: Ortiz is naturally supporting his own David Ortiz Children’s Fund, which helps children throughout New England and the Dominican Republic in need of critical pediatric medical care; Jones is backing Sharp Dressed Man, a nonprofit empowering men to improve their lives by providing them with recycled suits and presentation skills; and Wolf is helping out Boot Campaign and its efforts to ease the transition from military to civilian life for veterans and their families.

“The guys had started asking me about the Golf Classic coming up and we thought it’d be a fun way to get our fans excited around Father’s Day,” Ortiz said of the feel-good sweepstakes. “I’m so appreciative of the support my friends have given me and I wanted to help give back to these other charities they love. It’s all about making memories and supporting these nonprofits that are doing amazing work.”

Besides the grand prize golf retreat, three runners-up will receive a recorded Father’s Day greeting for their dad from one of the guys. The contest kicks off today and is open through June 13, with winners being named June 14. Folks can enter a max of five times via www.dailykarma.com/fathersday.
