MARSHFIELD — An 18-hour manhunt for an armed fugitive ended just after noon yesterday when authorities said alleged wife-killer Allen Warner crashed a stolen flatbed tow truck into the drivethru of a Whitman Dunkin’ Donuts and then went back on the lam.

Warner, 47, of Rockland was arrested soon afterward when Whitman police officer Mark Poirier, while investigating both the truck theft from T&K Asphalt Services and the hit-and-run, spotted Warner driving past him, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz said.

“Officer Poirier stopped the vehicle, got Mr. Warner out and placed him under arrest,” Cruz said. “He was not employed by T&K.”

He said he “was not sure what” Warner’s intentions were at Dunks.

He declined to say whether Warner made any statements to Poirier.

Warner is expected to be arraigned in Plymouth District Court today for the Monday night slaying of his estranged wife, Shana Warner, 48, of Marshfield.

Cruz said investigators have not recovered the firearm her husband allegedly shot her with after stalking and pursuing her in Main Street traffic; however, he said the Toyota Corolla Warner used to make his initial getaway was located near the paving company.

“The fact that this terrible and tragic story ended without any further incident or loss of life is really a testament to the hard work and the dedication that these members of law enforcement show each and every day to protect us,” Cruz said.

Cruz did not rule out additional charges for Warner, but emphasized the homicide investigation “is what we’re really going to be focused on to get justice for his wife.”

According to records at Plymouth Probate and Family Court, Shana Warner filed for divorce on May 2, citing an irretrievable breakdown of the union that began with wedding vows on Feb. 2, 2008, at The Little Church of the West in Las Vegas.

The case was not due to be heard by a judge until Jan. 30.

Shana Warner had attempted to end the marriage twice before, but changed her mind both times.

When she first filed for divorce in 2010, she said it was because her husband “was physically and verbally abusive due to his drug use behavior,” court documents state. They later reconciled. A second divorce proceeding was dismissed last year.
