Two ar­rested in July slay­ing

Two men in their 20s have been ar­rested and charged with mur­der and man­slaugh­ter for the death of a man on Homestead Street on July 7.

Bos­ton po­lice said they ar­rested 24-year-old Ad­nan Tahlil of Roxbury and 27-yearold Demetrius Ben­nett of Dorch­ester Fri­day night on out­stand­ing war­rants.

Tahlil is be­ing charged with man­slaugh­ter and Ben­nett is fac­ing a mur­der charge, both re­lated to the shoot­ing death of 29-year-old Chris­tian Rivera of Dorch­ester. Rivera was shot in the head near the in­ter­sec­tion of Homestead Street and Hum­boldt Av­enue in Roxbury on July 7, po­lice said.

When of­fi­cers ar­rived on scene about 3:10 p.m., they found Rivera on the side­walk and had him trans­ported to Bos­ton Med­i­cal Cen­ter, where he later died from his in­juries.

Both sus­pects are ex­pected to ap­pear in Suf­folk Su­pe­rior Court, where they will face ar­raign­ment for their charges, po­lice said.
