Kathleen Cornell, at 85, of Melrose, restaurant worker, born in Ireland
Kathleen (Hosty) Cornell of Melrose died on Tuesday at home. She was 85.
She was born in County Mayo, Ireland, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1951.
She worked hard her entire life taking care of her children.
Mrs. Cornell was an employee of Valleys Steakhouse and continued to work in the restaurant industry for many years.
She was a talented knitter who made beautiful gifts for family, friends and neighbors.
She took great pride in her home and loved being with family and vacationing in Florida.
She is survived by three sons, Paul of Westfield, N.J., Thomas of Abington and Donald of Plymouth; two daughters, Kathryn of Abington and Pamela of Cambridge; two sisters, Margaret Hosty of New York and Nora Colfer of England; longtime companion, Thomas Murphy; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth.
