Kath­leen Cor­nell, at 85, of Mel­rose, restau­rant worker, born in Ire­land

Kath­leen (Hosty) Cor­nell of Mel­rose died on Tues­day at home. She was 85.

She was born in County Mayo, Ire­land, and im­mi­grated to the U.S. in 1951.

She worked hard her en­tire life tak­ing care of her chil­dren.

Mrs. Cor­nell was an em­ployee of Val­leys Steak­house and con­tin­ued to work in the restau­rant in­dus­try for many years.

She was a ta­lented knit­ter who made beau­ti­ful gifts for fam­ily, friends and neigh­bors.

She took great pride in her home and loved be­ing with fam­ily and va­ca­tion­ing in Florida.

She is sur­vived by three sons, Paul of West­field, N.J., Thomas of Abing­ton and Don­ald of Plymouth; two daugh­ters, Kathryn of Abing­ton and Pamela of Cam­bridge; two sis­ters, Mar­garet Hosty of New York and Nora Colfer of Eng­land; long­time com­pan­ion, Thomas Mur­phy; six grand­chil­dren and many nieces and neph­ews.

A fu­neral Mass will be cel­e­brated at 10 a.m. Mon­day at St. Fran­cis Xavier Church, Wey­mouth.
