IT’S A GRAND PARTY FOR SOX
Owners, players keep the celebration rolling
The Red Sox have been continuing their public display of awesomeness, living it up all over town well beyond Wednesday’s World Series victory parade. We’re told that the team kind of commandeered The Grand’s one-year anniversary party, in the best way possible, late on Thursday night. The Seaport venue welcomed rapper Rick Ross to commemorate its milestone — and to keep the Sox festivities going strong. Sox owners John Henry and Tom Werner apparently showed up at the club with the championship trophy in hand, accompanied by Celtics owner and pal Wyc Grousbeck. The group passed the prized possession over to Ross, who put it on display in the DJ booth for the entire audience to see. Players like Chris Sale, David Price, J.D. Martinez, Blake Swihart, Matt Barnes, Rick Porcello and Bobby Poyner also hit up the venue to celebrate. Word is, the crew had just come from the Celtics’ 117-113 win over the Milwaukee Bucks and hadn’t had a chance to eat. The ravenous group were sent a massive spread from Scorpion Bar Boston, located right underneath The Grand, and they all feasted at their VIP table while watching Ross’ performance of hits like “Hustlin,” “Pop That,” “Trap Trap Trap” and “I’m on One.” Ross made a special dedication to the team before playing “All I Do Is Win,” and The Grand gave a nod to the hometown heroes by putting on the World Series’ closing play and on-field celebration on its enormous LED wall. And the rapper treated the crowd to a shower of champions, spraying 100 bottles of Belaire for Rick Ross over the whole club. The Grand wasn’t the only stop on the party circuit for the Sox this past week. We hear that a pack of players also hit up the local installment of the Corona Estereo Beach Tour after descending from the duck boats post-parade on Wednesday. Manager Alex Cora, coach Ramon Vasquez and players Eduardo Rodriguez and Christian Vazquez joined in the beer-sponsored concert experience, which is only hitting four other cities besides Boston. The bunch of winners sipped on some ice-cold Coronas and partied with Wisin, the reggaeton superstar who’s headlining the show, giving the Puerto Rican icon his very own Sox jersey.
