Players’ wives host shower for military moms-to-be
The Boston Bruins’ other halves banded together, staging a sweet surprise for a group of military moms-to-be.
The wives and girlfriends of our hockey players, in partnership with the March of Dimes, managed to throw a super-secret luncheon in celebration of 50 expecting mothers all linked to the service at the University of Massachusetts Club on Sunday.
During the baby bash, the pregnant guests had a chance to mix and mingle with the Bruins’ significant others, including: Naomi Krejci, wife of David Krejci; Mayson Corbett, girlfriend of Brandon Carlo; Haley Miller, wife of Kevan Miller; Kelly Backes, wife of David Backes; Petra Halak, wife of Jaroslav Halak; Steph Bergeron, wife of Patrice Bergeron; Melanie Krug, wife of Torey Krug; Tara Kampfer, wife of Steven Kampfer; Juliane Pandolfo, wife of Jay Pandolfo; and Julie Cassidy, wife of Bruce Cassidy.
And while the stork might typically be the harbinger of birth, the bird must have called out sick for the event. In its stead, the Bruins mascot, Blades, filled the role of adorable animal that made everyone feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Customary with showers, a large part of the party centered on giving. The glowing guests of honor were gifted boxes filled to the brims with baby supplies like monitors, as well as larger pieces of must-have equipment, such as strollers.
All of the gear was given courtesy of the Boston Bruins, March of Dimes, Philips and UPPAbaby.
And, more specifically, March of Dimes ensured the moms were well equipped with the latest information about pregnancy and newborn health, thanks to its Mission: Healthy Baby program.
The nonprofit is committed to supporting research and providing education to growing families so their kiddos can get a fair start.
