Cotton, BC sweep Vermont

David Cotton scored a pair of goals and Boston College won its third consecutiv­e game and completely a two-game sweep of Vermont with a 3-2 victory last night at Kelley Rink.

Cotton’s second goal with 22 seconds left in the second period proved to be the game-winner for the Eagles (3-5-0, 3-1-0 Hockey East). Julius Mattila had the other goal for BC.

Vlad Dzhioshvil­i and Jake Massie each scored for the Catamounts (3-5-0, 1-4-0).

UMass-Lowell 2, New Hampshire 2 — Ryan Lohin scored twice in a 37-second span late in the third period as the host River Hawks held off an upset bid from the Wildcats.

Despite finishing with a 37-11 advantage in shots, UML (4-4-1, 1-2-1 HE) trailed 2-0 before Lohin’s goals, the latter tying the game with 1:46 left in regulation.

Ara Nazarian and Marcus Vela scored for the Wildcats (1-4-2, 1-1-1).

Harvard 3, Yale 3 — Casey Dornbach had a goal and assist, but the Crimson (0-2-2, 0-2-2 ECAC) settled for a tie with the Bulldogs (2-1-1, 2-1-1) in New Haven, Conn.

Bemidji State 8, Merrimack 3— The Warriors (3-7-0) fell into a 5-0 hole after one period and never recovered in a loss to the Beavers (5-1-1) in Bemidji, Minn.

Niagara 6, Holy Cross 3 — Anthony Vincent had a pair of assists for the Crusaders (1-6-0, 1-3-0 Atlantic Hockey), who fell to the Purple Eagles (4-5-0, 4-3-0) in Niagara, N.Y.
