Harlem Globetrotters dominate at Gillette
Players hit stadium trick shots
The Harlem Globetrotters are gearing up for their tour de New England and, to ensure they’re on our region’s level of athletic greatness, a couple of the players made a pilgrimage to Gillette Stadium, where they squeezed in some unconventional practice.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft welcomed exhibition basketball stars Zeus McClurkin and Firefly Fisher to the Foxboro arena. Before the duo got down to the business of balling, Kraft gave them a special tour of the Pats’ trophy room and let them check out our team’s championship swag from five Super Bowl titles.
Inspired by New England’s victories on the field, the visitors decided to make five seemingly impossible trick shots through hoops peppered throughout Gillette for their use. And, just to send us some good vibes, the duo also made sure to sink a sixth shot from the top of the stadium — you know, in anticipation of our next Super Bowl win.
During their time warming up at Gillette, McClurkin and Fisher managed to hang out with our Patriots cheerleading squad and our mascot, Pat . By way of a comical miscommunication, they also had some face time with a live goat, which, although awesome in its own right, wasn’t quite the same as playing with the real GOAT of New England, Tom Brady. The Harlem Globetrotters’ tour will be kicking off with two shows at TD Garden on Dec. 26 and will bring the guys to venues throughout the region through April 7. For information about specific dates and locations, as well as how to get your hands on tickets, you can head to their website.
