HUB TOPS LIST OF BEST TO FIND JOB
Boston has emerged as the best city to find employment in the U.S. and abroad, according to a new data study that looked at 100 cities from 36 different countries. German relocation company Movinga conducted the study to find where people are relocating to for promising new career opportunities. The findings were released Wednesday in the 2018 Best Cities to Find a Job report. “I am incredibly proud that Boston has been named the best city in America and overseas for people to find a job,” said Mayor Martin J. Walsh in a statement to the Herald. “We have prioritized job growth as a leading way to increase economic opportunity and wealth building for all residents across all demographics, with specific attention to youth, women, and immigrant employment.” According to the report, the Hub has earned the highest marks in standard of living, opportunities for women and disposable income levels. The index ranks 100 cities around the globe based on three factors: the economic health of startups and established businesses, standard of living, and the inclusion of young people, women and expats from other countries in the workforce. Scores were also determined by analyzing 14 “micro factors,” which included health care costs, rates of immigration and gender-based wage gaps. “Boston (appearing) as the top city to find a job will come as no surprise to many, as their thriving startup and business ecosystem is strongly connected to their highquality educational institutes,” said Finn Age Hansel, managing director at Movinga. “We have bolstered our efforts to grow our middle class and provide workers with a stable income,” said Walsh. “And our hard work is paying off for the people of Boston — we have a strong and growing economy, and have produced 80,000 new jobs in the last four years alone.” Other cities in the top 10 in the U.S. include San Diego, New York, Seattle, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Denver, Minneapolis and Houston.
