‘Impossible’ comeback

Taniya Nayak, crew reunite for restaurant rehab series redo

-

It looks like the impossible is happening once again — “Restaurant: Impossible,” to be exact. Taniya Nayak, an interior designer who’s based right here in Boston, just revealed she and the rest of the old reality show crew have reunited to shoot the Food Network program once again, following a significant hiatus from TV.

“Getting all our ducks in a row for tomorrow,” Nayak wrote on Instagram yesterday. “My Restaurant: Impossible team is my #family. This is going to be like one big #reunion after nearly 3 years. (Missing a few special peeps).”

“Luckily RI continued to air around the world! I’ve received sweet messages from fans of the show in Italy, France, Spain, Morocco, South Africa, London, and many more!” she continued. “Evidently food, restaurants, design, and big loveable loud chefs are universal. We can’t wait to get started! Today we’ll get our tool kits ready and tomorrow morning is day one of our 2 days/$10k renovation. Wish us luck!”

Via her Insta Stories, Nayak disclosed their film ing location. She said they’re gearing up to shoot an episode in San Diego and made a call for any design volunteers in the area who are willing to help with the show.

The series, which stars celebrity chef Robert Irvine, was canceled in 2016, after going 13 seasons strong on the air. But now, it seems that Irvine and his team will finally return to their work of rescuing failing restaurants across the country, revamping every aspect of their eatery — from the menu and ambience, to business practices and service protocol — all in the hopes of saving them from closure and making them profitable.

Food Network has yet to make any formal announcement about the return of “Restaurant: Impossible.” However, Irvine shared casting call info for the program on his social media accounts last month. And, of course, Nayak has been openly sharing about their preparations for production over the past couple of days.
