‘Missy’ gets its man

Sandler, Spade’s latest project lands director

Boston Herald - - NEWS -

Adam Sandler’s latest production project just found its director, and he’s no stranger to the Sandman. Tyler Spindel is now apparently taking the helm for “The Wrong Missy,” the Hollywood Reporter first reported. The upcoming comedy will star David Spade and will have the New Hampshire-raised comedian producing through his Happy Madison Productions, in partnership with Netflix and Q.C. Entertainment. The movie is supposed to center on Spade’s character of Tim Morris, a guy who meets the perfect girl and tries to ask her to tag along on his work’s corporate retreat. But the weekend of his dreams quickly turns into a nightmare when, because of a texting snafu, a blind-date-gone-wrong from Morris’ past rolls up to the retreat instead of the lady he actually likes. Spindel, who’s also slated to direct the upcoming pic “Deported” starring Whitmer Thomas and Megan Park, has lent his skills in the chair to the famous pals in the past. Previously, he served as director for “Father of the Year,” another flick starring Spade and produced by Sandler that made its Netflix debut back in July. In addition to Sandler, producers for “The Wrong Missy” include Allen Covert, Barry Bernardi, Kevin Grady and Judit Maull, as well as folks from Q.C. Entertainment. And this time around, Chris Pappas and Kevin Barnett are responsible for the script.
