- By JORDAN FRIAS

An Uber driver from Holliston is facing an indecent assault charge for allegedly sexually assaulting a customer after offering her money in exchange for sex.

Jose H. Arevalos-Avalos, 37, was arrested by Ashland police after a woman told cops she was propositioned for sex and was touched between her legs and assaulted by the suspect.

The woman told police she had ordered an Uber car to commute to work in Ashland late Friday afternoon and was picked up by the suspect in a gray Toyota Corolla.

During her commute the suspect allegedly offered her $100 for sex and when she refused put his hand between her legs and began sexually assaulting her.

The woman told police he proceeded to place her hand between his legs.

After reporting the incident to police, cops were able to confirm that the woman used the ride-hailing app to order an Uber from a man named “Jose” driving a gray Toyota Corolla.

The woman also provided police with the driver’s phone number and said he allegedly gave it to her and asked her to call him as she exited the car.

Ashland police said they used the phone and license plate number provided by the woman to track down the suspect at his Holliston home.

Arevalos-Avalos was arrested before 11 p.m. Friday at his North Mill Street apartment and is in police custody.

He is facing a felony charge of indecent assault and battery on a person age 14 or over and one count of attempting to pay for sexual conduct, cops said.

Ashland police said he will be arraigned in Framingham District Court on Monday.
