Avs come to Garden off OT loss

Ryan Pulock scored his second goal of the game 2:23 into overtime to lift the Islanders to a 4-3 victory over the struggling Colorado Avalanche yesterday in New York.

Jordan Eberle had a goal and an assist, Josh Bailey also scored and Brock Nelson had two assists for the Islanders. Robin Lehner stopped 25 shots as New York, which is now three points ahead of Washington atop the Metropolit­an Division, won for the eighth time in 11 games (8-1-2).

On the winner, Pulock fired a one-timer from the left faceoff circle off a pass from Casey Cizikas for his fifth of the season.

Carl Soderberg had a goal and two assists for Colorado, which is back in action today against the Bruins at the Garden.

Maple Leafs 4, Canadiens 3 — John Tavares scored at 2:17 of overtime to give visiting Toronto a victory over Montreal in a matchup of teams fighting for second place in the Atlantic division.

Before the game, the Canadiens acquired forward Dale Weise and defenseman Christian Folin from the Flyers for David Schlemko and Byron Froese.

Lightning 5, Penguins 4 — Tyler Johnson and J.T Miller had third-period goals as Tampa Bay stopped a rare twogame skid with a victory over Pittsburgh in Tampa.

Flyers 6, Ducks 2 — Carter Hart made 30 saves for his eighth straight victory, Sean Couturier had a goal and two assists and host Philadelph­ia scored four times in the first period to rout slumping Anaheim.

Panthers 5, Capitals 4 — Mike Hoffman scored the winning goal on the power play in overtime and Roberto Luongo made 26 saves to help Florida beat host Washington and remain on the fringe of the playoff race.

With Brett Connolly in the penalty box for slashing late in regulation, Hoffman scored 1:31 into overtime. Florida has the NHL’s top power play since Nov. 1.

Blues 3, Predators 2 — Vladimir Tarasenko scored his 19th goal of the season, rookie Jordan Binnington made 28 saves and host St. Louis beat Nashville to extend its season-best winning streak to five games.

Vince Dunn and Mackenzie MacEachern also scored for the Blues, who have gone 11-4-1 in their last 16 and occupy the second wild card spot in the Western Conference.

Sabres 3, Red Wings 1 — Casey Mittelstad­t and Kyle Okposo scored power-play goals and host Buffalo won for just the fourth time in 11 games by beating Detroit.

Linus Ullmark stopped 28 shots, bouncing back after allowing 10 goals on 75 shots in his previous two outings, including a 6-5 overtime loss to Carolina on Thursday.

Wild 4, Devils 2 — Former Devil Zach Parise scored the goahead goal, and Minnesota snapped a four-game losing streak and gave coach Bruce Boudreau something to smile about in his 900th NHL game with a victory over New Jersey in Newark.

Coyotes 3, Stars 2 — In Glendale, Ariz., Alex Galchenyuk scored twice and assisted on another goal, and Darcy Kuemper stopped 33 shots to help Arizona beat Dallas .

Sharks 5, Oilers 2 — Kevin Labanc recorded his first career hat trick as visiting San Jose won its fifth straight, over Edmonton.

Senators 5, Jets 2 — Winnipeg native Mark Stone scored twice to help Ottawa beat the visiting Jets.
