WIDE RECEIVER
Julian Edelman was the best player on the field Sunday. There’s little debate about that. While the Patriots defense collectively dominated the game, Edelman deserved the individual award of MVP.
Much is made of Edelman’s toughness and fire. We don’t hear quite as much about Edelman’s insane athleticism. He instantly separated from Peters, Aqib Talib and Nickell RobeyColeman. The Rams got caught with linebackers in coverage against Edelman, which was predictably disaster. Oftentimes, Edelman was the sole source of offense for the Pats.
Outside of Edelman, Patriots receivers didn’t bring much to the table. Chris Hogan failed to catch a pass on six targets.
