Boston police arrested two men wanted in Minneapolis, one for murder, and state police announced the arrest of a North Carolina man involved in a Springfield shooting.
Farhan Ibrahim, 20, of Minneapolis and Ahmed Rashed Ahmed, 26, of Boston were identified and arrested in the area of Cypher Street and West Service Road in South Boston on Thursday with help from U.S. Marshals and Drug Enforcement Administration officers, police said.
Ibrahim, wanted in Minneapolis for murder, and Ahmed, wanted in Minneapolis for a felony assault second degree dangerous weapon with substantial bodily injury charge, were passengers of a semitrailer pulled over by officers at about 12:25 p.m.
Police said the license plate for the rig matched information provided to them by the Fugitive Unit. The operator of the rig was identified and released from the scene, but the two men were placed under arrest and are expected to be arraigned in South Boston District Court.
Also, Boston police on Friday identified the victim of a suspected hitand-run on Thursday in Mattapan as 57-year-old Brenda Lee Keller of Boston.
Keller, whose death remains under investigation, was located on Fottler and Hiawatha roads late Thursday afternoon and was pronounced dead at the scene after “suffering from head trauma,” Boston police Superintendent Paul Donovan told the Herald Thursday.
Police on Friday said they are seeking a vehicle described as a blackcolored sedan with windows that appeared to be tinted.
The woman driving the vehicle has been described as “a black female with a heavy build and long hair, wearing a white shirt and black pants,” police said.
In North Carolina, police announced the arrest of Aleczander Liriano, 21, who was wanted for a March 5 shooting in Springfield.
State police said Liriano was arrested outside of a residence in Wilmington, N.C., and is being held pending rendition to Massachusetts.
Liriano will be prosecuted by the Hamden District Attorney, state police said, for allegedly shooting a woman at the intersection of Dickinson Street and Lansing Place. Charges include armed robbery with a firearm, assault and battery with a firearm, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
Liriano was added to the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension unit’s most wanted list last week.
