Baseball

Tyler Hoey pitched a complete game four-hitter as Lowell (13-4) defeated North Andover, 4-1, in the Merrimack Valley Conference. Ray Velasquez had two hits, an RBI and several sparkling plays at shortstop.

Jack Christians­on threw a three-hit shutout while striking out four as Essex Tech (9-5) blanked nonleague opponent Whittier, 1-0. … Jack Grafton finished with nine K’s while allowing one earned run as Cardinal Spellman (5-8) won 5-2 over Wahconah.

Ezra Kruckenber­g allowed just two hits with 10 K,s and Christian Monahan-Dasilva went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs driveninas Malden (6-10) defeated Somerville, 6-2, in the East Boston Strike Out Cancer Tournament semifinals.

Cam Seguin allowed four hits and one earned run with seven strikeouts, as Austin Prep (14-1) topped St. Mary’s, 4-1, in Catholic Central League action.

Brady Ouellette fanned 10 batters and surrendere­d just three hits as Apponequet (12-1) dropped Somerset Berkley, 5-2, in a South Coast Conference matchup.

Boys lacrosse

Pat Keefe collected five goals and two assists and Michael Ott also scored five times as St. John’s Prep (13-3) took down nonleague opponent Needham, 14-10.

Girls lacrosse

Ciera Licare notched six tallies and an assist as Central Catholic (9-5) came from behind for a 17-15 nonleague victory over Newburypor­t.
