Amesbury mom demands answers after daughter left at Lawrence ER
The grieving mother of the 13-year-old Amesbury girl who died shortly after arriving at an emergency room Monday is demanding answers and justice — claiming her daughter had been hanging out with a 16year-old girl who dumped her at the Lawrence hospital.
“She had no pulse in the car, and they abandoned her,” Chloe Ricard’s mother Deborah Goldsmith-Dolan said outside her Amesbury apartment Tuesday. “They went to the ER and abandoned her.
“It’s just so beyond,” her mother added. “Why would you hurt a 13-year-old? What did she do to deserve it? I just want justice — to the full extent of the law.”
Earlier on Monday, Chloe had apparently posted on Snapchat that she wanted to run away, her mother said.
“Chloe would sometimes say something to just show off, fit in with the crowd,” Goldsmith-Dolan said. “There was no sign she wanted to actually run away.”
Police are investigating the 13-year-old girl’s death. In a statement released by the Essex District Attorney’s Office, spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan said the girl, “was brought to the Lawrence General Hospital emergency room at 4:47 p.m. and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.”
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was performing an autopsy Tuesday, but the DA’s office anticipates it will “take some time before there is a ruling on the cause and manner of death,” Kimball-Monahan said.
It doesn’t appear she was violently hurt, her mother said.
“She was just laying there peaceful,” Goldsmith-Dolan said.
Chloe’s father died five years ago, and she missed him every day, her mother said.
“She just couldn’t cope, and that turned into a lot of angry issues and wrong friends,” Goldsmith-Dolan said.
Chloe attended Rowley’s Solstice Day School, a therapeutic school. Chloe was a very talented artist, her mother said.
“She was just a very sweet, good-hearted person,” her mother added. “It’s heartbreaking.”
While crying Tuesday, Goldsmith-Dolan said she hopes some positive comes out of the loss.
“I hope somebody will think twice and call the police if something’s wrong,” she said.
