Yanks rip O’s again

-

Clint Frazier homered twice and had a career-high five RBI, Gary Sánchez contributed a three-run drive and the New York Yankees kept up their assault on Orioles pitching in an 11-4 rout last night in Baltimore.

New York made it easy for Domingo Germán (9-1) to win his sixth consecutive start and increase his major league-leading victory total. The right-hander pitched only five innings and left with a 9-3 lead.

David Hale worked the four innings to earn his first save since 2010 at Single A.

New York is 8-2 against the Orioles this season, outscoring them 73-40 and going 5-0 at Camden Yards.

Of the major league-high 100 home runs the Orioles have allowed, 28 have been hit by the Yankees.

Astros 5, White Sox 1 — Justin Verlander took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and struck out a seasonhigh 12 to lead host Houston past Chicago.

Verlander (8-1) was in control from the first pitch, allowing one hit and walking one in eight innings for his fourth straight win and the seventh in eight starts. The only hit was a Jose Abreu solo hom run.

Athletics 5, Indians 3 — Pinch-hitter Mark Canha’s two-run homer off struggling starter Trevor Bauer in the third inning sent Oakland to a win in Cleveland.

Canha replaced injured slugger Khris Davis and connected off Bauer (4-3), who managed to hang around for six innings despite early wildness. The right-hander is winless since April 30.

Davis will be placed on the injured list because of a bruised left hip.

Rangers 5, Mariners 3 — Lance Lynn allowed two runs in seven innings and Shawn Kelley earned the save hours after learning that two lumps removed from his throat last week were benign as host Texas took down Seattle.

Interleague

Marlins 5, Tigers 4 — Chad Wallach hit a tiebreaking double in the 11th inning, and Miami beat host Detroit after blowing a two-run lead in a wild ninth inning.

Dodgers 7, Rays 3 — Clayton Kershaw (4-0) took a shutout into the seventh inning in his first start at Tropicana Field and Los Angeles beat Tampa Bay in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Dodgers pitcher Julio Urías was reinstated from administrative leave. He was placed on leave while MLB officials looked into his arrest for investigation of domestic battery.

Cardinals-Royals, ppd. — The opener of the I-70 interleague rivalry series in St. Louis was postponed because of a forecast for severe weather and rescheduled as part of a doubleheader on today.

National League

Reds 3, Brewers 0 — Sonny Gray (1-4) and three relievers held down Milwaukee, which was missing Christian Yelich because of back spasms, and host Cincinnati cruised to a win.

It was the major leagueleading seventh shutout for the Reds as the Brewers were blanked for the first time this season.

Cubs 3, Phillies 2 — Pinchhitter Javier Báez’s single capped a two-run, ninth-inning rally and lifted host Chicago past Philadelphia to stop the Phillies’ fourgame winning streak. Kris Bryant had three hits. Mets 6, Nationals 5 — Pete Alonso hit a long tying home run in the eighth inning, Amed Rosario had a winning infield single with two outs in the ninth and host New York rallied from deficits three times to beat Washington.

Rockies 5, Pirates 0 — German Márquez struck out seven in eight dominant innings, Trevor Story hit his 11th home run and Colorado cooled off host Pittsburgh.
