Bid for money

-

The “Fair Share” amendment (a 4% surtax on incomes over $1,000,000) is an attempt to change our Massachusetts Constitution.

Our elected officials have refused the request to specify that these funds would be spent only on education and transportation. They want to get their hands on more money and then spend it however they please. Since passing this type of legislation, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey have lost funds, as many of the wealthy have left their state, taking with them the substantial taxes they pay to the state.

I would like to know what is “fair” about taking someone’s money and giving it to someone else. Someone worked hard for this money along the way. Under other circumstances, it would be called “theft.” It is the government’s punishment of those people for not failing.

People forget that government has no money — only what they take from the people. It will not stop here. If our Massachusetts politicians are allowed to do this, it will eventually trickle down to our middle class and finally destroy it.

What will happen when government has squeezed everything they can get from the people? Will we have anarchy from those not receiving private money anymore? Look to France and Greece rioting in the streets, because the “state” doesn’t have the funds to hand out.

To quote Representative Marc Lombardo, “We need reform in our spending, in our priorities and not a divisive class warfare tax increase.”
