DONNIE’S DESIGNER SPLURGE
Wife throws epic 50th birthday party
Jenny McCarthy wasn’t kidding when she said she was pulling out all the stops to celebrate Donnie Wahlberg’s 50th birthday. She helped her Dorchester-raised hubby ring in his latest decade of life with an extravagant, luxury designer-themed bash this weekend.
The milestone party took place in Chicago, where the couple live, on his actual birthday Saturday night. Wahlberg, who was also surprised with a custom cake from his “Blue Bloods” background actors while on set Friday, and his wife played into the apparent motif of the evening. They each rocked not one, but two high-end ensembles that boasted both Versace and Louis Vuitton labels.
Among the family members and friends joining the birthday boy and his party-planner extraordinaire for the epic night: Singers Robin Thicke and Big
Freedia; fellow New Kids on the Block bandmate Joey McIntyre; Wahlberg’s youngest son, Elijah, who also has a big birthday this week, as he turns 18 today; and Donnie’s sister, Tracey Wahlberg. Over the course of the blowout, their special guests were seen performing for the man of the hour, challenging him to dance-offs and parading out a massive cake made to look like a stack of designer boxes and bags from a major shopping haul.
Before McCarthy pulled off the party, she joked about its hefty price tag.
“I’ll be paying this party off until I’m 90. Truly,” she recently told Us
Weekly. “I’m going as far as I can without filing for bankruptcy. I wanted to give him, like, the greatest party ever because he’s been the most wonderful human being — not only with me but with everyone he knows.”
“I don’t hold back anything,” she added.
