Javante McCoy and Max Mahoney scored 20 points apiece as Boston University pulled away from former America East Conference rival New Hampshire in the second half to post an 84-70 win on Saturday.

The schools met for the sixth straight season since the Terriers joined the Patriot League in the summer of 2013.

Mahoney grabbed nine rebounds and Walter Whyte had 19 points for Boston University (2-2).

Sean Sutherlin had 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Wildcats (2-2). Jayden Martinez added 19 points. Blondeau Tchoukuien­go had 13 points.

UMass 89, CCSU 43 — Keon Clergeot scored 20 points as UMass rolled past Central Connecticu­t 89-43 on Saturday.

Sean East II had 15 points and six assists for UMass (4-0), which shot 52. 5 % from the floor (32 of 61) and 10 of 22 from behind the 3-point arc. Samba Diallo added 13 points. Djery Baptiste had 12 rebounds and three blocks for the Minutemen.

ODU 76, Northeaste­rn 69 — Xavier Green scored a career-high 24 points an Old Dominion topped Northeaste­rn in Norfolk, Virginia.

Jason Wade had 18 points for Old Dominion (3-1) and Malik Curry added 11 points.

Jordan Roland led the Huskies (2-2) with 29 points.

Old Dominion faces James Madison at home on Wednesday. Northeaste­rn faces Holy Cross on the road on Tuesday.

Belmont 100, BC 85 — Adam Kunkel scored 10 of his career-high 35 points during a game-breaking run to lead Belmont to victory over Boston College.

Nick Hopkins chipped in with 15 points, Nick Muszynski had 13 and Michael Benkert 10 for the Bruins (2-1). Kunkel was 5 for 9 on 3-point attempts and 10-of-10 from the free-throw line.

Nik Popovic led the Eagles (3-1) with 23 points, and Derryck Thornton scored 15 with seven assists despite playing with a sore right ankle that sent him to the locker room briefly in the opening half.

Buffalo 88, Harvard 76 — Antwain Johnson drained five from distance to total 19 points and Ronaldo Segu posted a career-high 21 points to help Buffalo knock off Harvard in the James Naismith Classic on Saturday.

Jayvon Graves added 18 points and six rebounds. Jeenathan Williams had 10 points while grabbing eight rebounds and Davonta Jordan chipped in eight points to go with seven assists and two steals.

Miami 80, Quinnipiac 52 —

Kameron McGusty scored 22 points to lead Miami to victory over Quinnipiac.

Dejan Vasiljevic overcame a scoreless first half and finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Hurricanes (3-1). The senior guard shot 4-of-6 from the field and was perfect on two free throw attempts in the second half.

Chris Lykes scored 12 points and Harlond Beverly 10 for Miami.

No. 7 Maryland 80, Oakland 50 — Darryl Morsell led a balanced attack with 14 points, and No. 7 Maryland used a strong defensive effort to power past Oakland.

No. 9 Virginia 60, Columbia 42 — Mamadi Diakite and Jay Huff scored 13 points each and Virginia beat Columbia.

Kihei Clark added 10 points for the Cavaliers (3-0), who led 31-17 at halftime and substitute­d liberally throughout the second half. Walk-on Chase Coleman and redshirt freshman Francisco Caffaro each scored the first points of their college careers late in the game.

No. 10 Villanova 78, Ohio 54 — Saddiq Bey scored 19 points and Justin Moore added 18 to lead Villanova past Ohio.

Villanova (2-1) broke the game open with a 27-4 run in the final 6:36 of the half, turning a one-point deficit into a 43-21 lead. Bey and Moore combined for 9-for12 shooting and 4 of 6 from beyond the 3-point line for 26 points.

No. 13 Memphis 102, Alcorn State 56 — Lester Quinones had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Precious Achiuwa added 20 points, sending Memphis to a romp over Alcorn State.

Top recruit James Wiseman was sidelined because of eligibilit­y issues, but Memphis hardly missed him in bouncing back from its first defeat of the season, an 82-74 loss to Oregon on

Tuesday night.

DJ Jeffries finished with 15 points and Tyler Harris and Lance Thomas added 11 each for Memphis (3-1). Isaiah Attles led Alcorn State (1-3) with 13 points while Troymain Crosby had 10.

Tennessee 75, No. 20 Washington 62 — Jordan Bowden scored 15 of his 18 points in the first half, Lamonte Turner had 16 points and Tennessee upset Washington.

Yves Pons scored 15 points, John Fulkerson had 14 and Turner added seven rebounds and eight assists as the Volunteers improved to 3-0 and handed Washington its first loss in three games this season.

The game was the middle feature in the James Naismith Hall of Fame Classic, an NCAA triple header at Scotiabank Arena in downtown Toronto.

No. 23 LSU 75, Nicholls State 65 — Darius Days had a career-high 17 points and 11 rebounds to help LSU beat Nicholls State.

Emmitt Williams added 11 points and a season-best 12 boards for the Tigers (2-1).

Skylar Mays was the leading scorer for the Tigers (2-1) with 18 points. Trendon Watford scored 17 points — all but three in the first half — for LSU.
