PERMISSION TO SPEAK

Ask Rep. Elise Stefanik

- Adriana COHEN

Anyone who thinks the Democratic Party is the party of women might want to check in with conservative Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.).

Stefanik was on the receiving end of an onslaught of misogynistic smears and despicable treatment by the Democrats and biased members of the left-wing media following last week’s impeachment hearings.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-N.Y.), leading the kangaroo court proceedings, stopped Stefanik, the sole GOP congresswoman on the House Intelligence Committee, from speaking multiple times during Friday’s hearing. Schiff also blocked Republican lawmakers from yielding their time to allow her to do her job and question witnesses. It gets worse. Scores of liberal pundits from CNN, ABC, the Washington Post and other lefty outlets attacked Rep. Stefanik and smeared her for standing up to Schiff, their anti-hero who’s trying to take down the president. The congresswoman has been subjected to sexist taunts suggesting she’s unqualified to be a lawmaker and criticized for not bowing to Schiff ’s onesided “rules” put in place to rig the impeachment process against the president. Stefanik won her election fair and square. She’s qualified for the job. Period.

The left also spread a doctored image of Stefanik giving reporters the finger — a fake meme — triggering the defamatory hashtag #TrashyStefanik that went viral on social media over the weekend. Stay classy Democrats.

So much for supporting women.

Now contrast that to how the left reacted in 2017 when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stopped Sen. Elizabeth Warren from attacking Jeff Sessions during his attorney general confirmation hearings, a violation of Senate rules, which forbids disparaging fellow chamber members.

Democrats and biased media rallied behind Warren and praised her for standing up to “sexist”
