A 21-year-old Middleboro man is accused of murdering his parents, according to police who found his dead parents inside their home Thursday morning.

Police officers responded at 6:30 a.m. to 3 Highland St. after a person did not show up to work. The officers found a dead man and woman inside the home.

Police launched an investigation and quickly found the 21-year-old suspect accused of the double murder. Police arrested Ryan True without incident and charged him with two counts of murder.

The victims have been identified as his parents: Renee True, 55; and David True, 52.

“I’d like to reassure the community that this was not a random act of violence, and they have no reason to fear living in the community of Middleboro,” Police Chief Joseph Perkins said at a press conference.

One of the victims had not shown up to work, causing a coworker to call police for a well-being check.

“This is a tragic and horrifying situation for obviously the family of the decedents and also here in the town of Middleboro,” said Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz. “This is a beautiful little community, and this does not happen here very often fortunately.”

He reassured residents that there’s no threat to the community.

Cruz also commended officers for doing this “difficult job in law enforcement … walking into the unknown, never knowing what they’ll find. You may find a terrible situation like this.”

Perkins said these incidents are “very troublesome and traumatic” to the officers as well.

True is scheduled to be arraigned in Wareham District Court today.

The Middleboro Police Department and investigators from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office are conducting the death investigation.
