25,931 more COVID vax doses doled out
More than 25,000 coronavirus vaccine doses were administered in Massachusetts during the most recent day of vax data, as state health officials also reported 18 new virus deaths and 892 new cases — which is the state’s lowest single-day case count since early November.
A total of 2,143,793 doses have been given since the start of the state’s rollout, according to the state Department of Public Health’s daily vaccination report on Monday.
That breaks down to 1,428,657 people who have received at least one dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine; 700,741 people who have received both doses of Pfizer or Moderna; and 14,395 people who have received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
That’s an increase of 25,931 shots from Sunday’s total, which is a significant decrease from high amounts of vaccinations during prior days. The previous daily vaccinations were 48,234 doses; 63,828 doses; 74,520 doses; and 62,433 doses.
Overall, 715,136 people in Massachusetts have been fully vaccinated.
More than 2.4 million doses have been shipped to the state and more than 88% of total doses shipped to the state have been administered.
Monday’s count of 892 new virus cases was the first time the state reported a single-day case tally below 900 since Nov. 2. The sevenday average of confirmed infections is now 1,118 cases, a decline from 6,241 cases at the start of the year.
The state’s count of estimated active cases is now 27,369 cases, significantly down from 98,750 cases at the beginning of January.
Monday’s 18 new virus deaths bring the state’s total recorded death toll to 16,435. The seven-day average of daily deaths is now 32, down from 77 daily deaths in late January. That figure peaked at 175 daily deaths in late April.
