Polito and hubby buy $1.8M summer shack
Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito and her husband splurged on a nearly $1.8 million South Coast shore home as the pandemic raged.
Polito and Stephan Rodolakis, her husband, paid $1.795 million in October for the 4,830-square-foot home on Dartmouth’s Ricketson’s Point — just “steps” to a “private white sandy beach,” according to town assessing records and an online real estate listing.
The pair already own a more than $1.5 million home near family on a historic Shrewsbury lakefront, which will remain the Republican pol’s primary residence, according to a spokeswoman.
The Dartmouth property is a second home purchase picked up amid the coronavirus pandemic that’s left the residential real estate market booming.
Polito is listed as the coowner of the five-bedroom, four-bathroom “luxurious” wood-shingle home with a “sweeping stairway,” “soaring ceilings” and a gourmet kitchen, online records show. The purchase of the home built in 2003 was first reported by CommonWealth Magazine.
Polito earns $165,000 as the state’s lieutenant governor.
And she could have her eyes set on the state’s top job. GOP Gov. Charlie Baker hasn’t yet said whether he’ll seek an unprecedented third term — though he appeared to leave the door open to doing so during an appearance Friday on WBUR.
Polito, a former state representative who’s been Baker’s No. 2 for two terms now, has been out-raising her boss for months and is now sitting on a war chest of more than $2 million as she waits in the wings.
