Andrew Bossey scored five touchdowns as Scituate opened the season by cruising to a 49-20 win over Hanover in a Patriot League contest.

Zach Maffeo ran in the lone score of a defensive battle, lifting Latin Academy (2-0) to a 6-0 shutout over Boston English/New Mission in Boston City League play.

Frank DeSisto ran for 147 yards and two scores as Gloucester (2-0) defeated Salem, 22-0, in the Northeaste­rn Conference.

Matt Childs rushed for 170 yards and a pair of scores as Medway (1-0) defeated Millis, 21-0, in the Tri-Valley League. … Gavin Elder went 8-for-14 passing for 157 yards and two touchdowns, tacking on a rushing score, to lift Bellingham (1-0) to a 40-0 win over Norton (0-1).

In a Dual County League contest, Eric Miles struck for three rushing touchdowns in a 35-19 victory for Bedford (2-0) over Cambridge (0-1).

Lowell turned the ball over seven times and host Andover took full advantage in a 33-14 victory in Merrimack Valley Conference action.

Sophomore quarterbac­k Scott Brown had three touchdown runs and finished with 109 yards rushing and 108 yards passing for Andover (1-1). Lowell (0-2) got a touchdown run from senior Keven Yrrizarry and a 30-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterbac­k Aidan Finn to senior Mason Fitzpatric­k.

Tim Crowley tossed a pair of touchdown passes and ran in two more to lift Middleboro (1-1) to a comfortabl­e 35-13 win over Cohasset in South Shore League action.

In a Hockomock League Davenport Division matchup, quarterbac­k Tyler DeMattio had a fourtouchd­own game, rushing for one and throwing three more, including two to Tommy Whalen, in a 48-7 win for North Attleboro (2-0) over Sharon.

Jared Hughes found the endzone twice on the ground, leading Northeast (2-0) to a 22-20 victory over Commonweal­th Athletic Conference opponent Shawsheen. … Murphy Senical threw a pair of touchdown passes to Randy Leblanc as Nashoba Tech (1-1) defeated Lynn Tech, 20-6.

Girls Basketball

Maya Kirnon recorded her fourth straight doubledoub­le with 23 points, 12 rebounds and six steals as Everett (4-0) defeated Lynn Classical, 56-42, in the Greater Boston League.

Boys Basketball

John Monexant scored 22 points and Juvens Louis added 16 as Everett rallied from a 16-point deficit to defeat Lynn Classical 52-51 in the Greater Boston League.

Class Notes

Central Catholic defensive end/tight end Jermaine Wiggins Jr. announced that he will play his college football at the University of Arizona in the fall. The 6-foot-5, 240-pounder is considered one of the top two-way talents in the state.

Former Rivers School hoop star Terrence Clarke announced he would forego his final three years at Kentucky to enter the NBA Draft.
