‘Fairly comfortable’ final week of spring

Thunderstorm threat today

The final week of spring is expected to be “fairly comfortable” in the 70s, with most of the days perfect for enjoying Massachusetts’ outdoors.

But the first day of the week will be “unsettled,” according to the National Weather Service.

Following a beautiful Sunday across the region, a cold front is bringing showers today. There will be a thunderstorm threat this afternoon and evening.

“We’re not worried about severe storms, though,” said Torry Gaucher, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Temps should be in the upper 60s and low 70s today.

Some showers could linger into Tuesday before clearing out in the afternoon, when temps will be in the middle to upper 70s.

Most of the week should be in that middle to upper 70-degrees range.

“Temperature-wise this week looks fairly comfortable,” said Gaucher, who’s based in NWS Boston’s Norton office. “We won’t have the overly oppressive heat this week.”

Both Wednesday and Thursday should be quiet, with partly to mostly sunny skies.

“The high pressure in the middle part of the week should be keeping things fairly quiet,” Gaucher said.

After early Tuesday, the next chance for rain looks like Friday night into Saturday morning when a cold front brings a round of showers.

Friday during the daytime looks dry before showers late at night.

“It’s several days away, so stuff can still change,” Gaucher said.

Next weekend during the official start of summer looks like low 80s.
