The cops have arrested a Brockton man on charges that he shot a woman to death in Dorchester.

Indrick Rubin, 37, is cuffed and faces a murder charge and a weapons violation.

The authorities say he shot a woman to death early Monday morning.

The cops responded to a call at 12:29 a.m. Monday reporting a person shot in the first block of Irma Street. There, they found Aisha Shepard, 38, of Roxbury, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police.

Authorities pronounced her dead at the scene.

Detectives identified Rubin as the shooter, police say, and obtained the warrant for his arrest out of Dorchester District Court, where he faces arraignment on those serious charges.

Police on Tuesday announced they tracked Rubin down at 725 Albany St., which is an address for Boston Medical Center.

The cops continue to ask that anyone with information about the killing to to contact Boston Police Homicide Detectives at 617-343-4470.

It’s one of at least three slayings within 24 hours. On Sunday right around 12:30 a.m., police responded to the first block of Woodbole Street in Mattapan for reports of a shooting, and they found responders took him to the hospital, where he died.

The identity of the man hasn’t yet been released, and no arrests have been reported.

Then on Monday, one man was stabbed to death on the rough South End area known as Methadone Mile, an increasingly violent area where there’s essentially an open-air drug market. That’s the fifth killing there this year.

Slayings overall in Boston are down significantly over last year. As of Monday, Boston Police reported 25 homicides, as opposed to 39 at the same point in 2020.
