DIVISION OVERVIEW

The Cape might be the place to be when it comes to Division 7 football. Mashpee has been a perennial power in the South Shore League and the Falcons have the potential to be playing some meaningful football in November. Staying down in the Cape Cod area, Nantucket will be very dangerous with running back Justin Bloise and quarterbac­k Makai Bodden giving defensive coordinato­rs fits.

In the Boston City League, we can see Latin Academy and East Boston vying for the top spot in Boston North. Amesbury comes off a strong season in the Cape Ann League, while Hamilton-Wenham could emerge as a darkhorse. Cohasset back this fall.

Under Justin Kogler, West Bridgewate­r was a factor in the Div. 8 landscape. Even though the Wildcats are moving up a division in the new statewide format, they will be more than competitiv­e.

In Div. 8, KIPP suffered some key graduation losses on the offensive line, but the return of several key players in the skill positions gives them reason for optimism. Lowell Catholic is awaiting the fate of All-Scholastic quarterbac­k Jakob Flores, who is awaiting a waiver from the MIAA. With him back in the saddle, Lowell Catholic could be a team that bears watching.

Hull returns a nice nucleus and should do well in Div. 8. St. John Paul and Millis have had success in the past and are looking to get back there once again. Brighton has some terrific skill players back and could present problems in the Boston City League. is fully capable of bouncing
