Public Announcement Concerning a Proposed Health Care Project

Pursuant to 105 C.M.R. 100.740, on July 30, 2021, Steward Health Care System LLC (“Applicant”) located at 1900 N. Pearl Street, Suite 2400, Dallas, TX 75201 filed an Emergency Application for a Notice of Determination of Need (“Application”) with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for a substantial capital expenditure to replace Norwood Hospital located at 800 Washington Street, Norwood, MA 02062. This project will involve construction of a replacement acute care hospital that will include the following: (A) 130 acute care beds, consisting of one hundred thirteen (113) medical-surgical beds, three (3) pediatric beds, and fourteen (14) critical care beds; (B) an Emergency Department; (C) five (5) inpatient operating rooms; (D) four (4) outpatient operating rooms; (E) five (5) endoscopy procedure rooms; (F) a cardiac catheterization lab with two (2) procedure rooms; (G) radiology services including one (1) MRI unit, and two (2) CT units; (H) outpatient services; and (I) shell space for future build-out to accommodate clinical services. The total value of the Proposed Project based on the maximum capital expenditure is $325,700,000. The project was approved on August 30, 2021.
