Social Security woes

-

People on Social Security are going to get the largest COLA increase in recent times.

Great, but the Budget office says the Social Security trust fund is not going to be able to pay “Full Benefits” starting in 2033.

With the large increase in payments and nothing being done by Congress to shore up the Social Security trust fund, the date when “Full Benefits” will not be paid moves ever closer.

The estimate benefits will be reduced by 23% at some time in the not too distant future

No one in Congress seems really interested in doing anything. I have written to my senators & representative and they have chosen not to respond. I suggest that legislation be introduced to reduce the salaries of those in Congress by the same percentage that the Social Security benefits are reduced. Let them feel the pain that seniors will feel as the COLAs of many years disappear.

Let us see if they become a little more proactive when their salaries are at stake.

Make sense?
