▪ Bergeron is one of Canada’s most decorated international players, having won gold at the World Juniors, World Championships, Olympics (twice) and the World Cup. But while he said he’d relish the chance to represent the maple leaf again in Beijing, he knows a spot on the perennial favorite squad is not guaranteed.

▪ With 10 days off between the last preseason game and the Oct. 16 season opener, Cassidy said that the club will do a couple of things that Covid restrictions would not allow last year, such as the family barbecue as well as a team retreat.
